Foraging

All my life I have collected and gathered things on my walks/runs and even road trips in the car!

Sometimes I have even found something that I couldn't carry or it was too hard to get so I have had to go back with a pair of secateurs, a bag or the car to collect it!

My family nickname me” the magpie” but the funny thing is I think all my kids have inherited a bit of my magpie tenancies!

My son found an old window frame once on the side of the road when he was walking (stumbling!) home from a party in Wellington and he carried it all the way home and ended up gifting it to me!

I receive phone messages & photos from my daughters of cool things they have spotted or collected on walks/runs and have taken back to their flats! Their messages say  – “ Mum I have been foraging today – look at my finds!”

And even in later years I have received messages & photos from my husband of cool things he has spotted on his road trips saying “ Janie you’d love this!” - and guess what - I do!

There is nothing more satisfying than foraging and finding interesting bits & pieces that you know you can use in a piece of art or you can just display it just as it is and enjoy it in your own surroundings.

I have lots of little areas around the house - inside and outside - that I call my creative spaces!

If you have never gone foraging I suggest you try it next time you go for a walk or car trip :)
